Desktop app
Press one shortcut over whatever you are doing - Teams, Outlook, Word, your editor. Type, and the right model answers and tells you which one it was and what it cost. Personal details are caught before they leave the computer.
Also for macOS and Linux. Open this page on a computer to install.
Powered by the same OpenSmartRoute decision engine as the router behind the API: one policy, one trace, metered on your workspace.
Over Teams: a quick task - meeting notes become three action items, so a small, cheap model does it and the answer lands in the chat - on Windows 11.
Whatever you are working in - Teams, Outlook, Word, a terminal - one shortcut opens a small bar on top of it. No copy-paste into a chat website.
What is live and what is staged: the people, chats and drafts in the frame are example scenarios, not a customer's; the checks run in your browser with the extension's own patterns; the model, price and time are a live quote from POST /api/v1/estimate against the public catalogue; the answers are the ones the platform's router wrote for these example drafts, with what they really cost. In the app your workspace's answer streams in the same way.

What it does
Every fragment below is a window of the app as it draws it. Nothing happens in the background that the app does not show you.
How it works
One click on Windows, drag to Applications on a Mac, run the AppImage on Linux. It installs for your user only and starts when it is done.
The first-run window offers to register the browser extension with every browser on the computer, then to connect your workspace. Both are one button; both can wait.
Ctrl+Shift+Space from any app. Type, press Enter, read which model answered and what it cost, copy the answer. Thumbs up or down teach your router.
Privacy
Personal details, pasted keys, typos and the kind of model a request needs are found on your machine while you type. Nothing is sent until you press Enter.
A message goes to your workspace through the router with your key. The clipboard is offered as context only when you switch that on, and only for the message you send.
Kept in a file only your user can read, never synced. Sign out from the tray or Settings, or revoke the key from the dashboard. Every call is labelled desktop in your usage by app.
Apache-2.0, built with Electron. Everything the app does, setting by setting, is in the desktop app guide; the browser extension it installs is described in the .
Install
Every published installer is listed with its size and SHA-256 checksum. Builds are unsigned until the certificates are in place; the steps say what your system will ask.
v2.1.0-preview.115 · developer preview · built Oct 18, 2026 · Apache-2.0
Chrome and Edge warn about installers few people have downloaded yet. Open the browser's downloads list and choose Keep, then Keep anyway.
It installs for your user only, with no admin prompt, and starts the app when it is done. Run it as administrator and choose Anyone who uses this computer to install for every account. The portable exe needs no install at all.
The same bar, workspace and writing assistant written for Windows (Mica and Acrylic on Windows 11, Windows' own spell checker, nothing to grant). Its installer works the same way - no admin prompt, /S for silence - and the portable build is one self-contained exe. Both apps can live side by side.
Choose More info and Run anyway while the build is unsigned; the SHA-256 below proves it is the file we published.
Press Ctrl+Shift+Space anywhere to ask. The first-run window offers to add the browser extension and to connect a workspace.
/desktop/release.json lists the current build with file, size and SHA-256 per installer (v2.1.0-preview.115). Compare it with the file you downloaded; every other release file is on the downloads page.
curl -fsS https://opensmartroute.ai/desktop/release.json | jq '.downloads[] | {name, sha256}'
sha256sum OpenSmartRoute-*.exe # certutil -hashfile OpenSmartRoute-*.exe SHA256 on WindowsThe Windows installer takes /S /ALLUSERS for a silent install into Program Files for every account (Intune, SCCM, a login script); a managed.json beside it - or the file named by /MANAGED= - is pinned for everyone at the same time. On macOS the .pkg installs for everyone the same way, and the .mobileconfig published with each build grants the Accessibility and Automation permissions through your MDM so nobody clicks through the prompts. Pair it with the browser extension's ExtensionInstallForcelist policy from the extension page so both arrive together. Details in the desktop guide.
Under each reply: the model your router picked, how sure it was, the cost and the time it took. Balanced, Cheapest, Best or Fastest is one click; thumbs up or down teach the router.
The first run registers the browser extension with Chrome, Edge, Brave, Firefox and the other Chromium browsers on the machine, the way each browser allows, and shows you exactly what it did per browser. Each browser asks once to enable it; Safari follows when its App Store listing is live.
The mark in the tray gains a dot while an answer streams. Its menu mirrors the app: connected workspace, extension status, settings, start at sign-in, the pending update, quit. No window to manage.
Shortcut, start at sign-in, clipboard as context, whether drafts are priced while you type, updates - every row says what it does and saves when you change it. Your key lives in a file only your user can read.
New versions download in the background from this site's release feed; a notification and the tray offer Restart to update. A downloaded update is applied when you quit; nothing restarts on its own.
